A Youth arrested on charge of raping a 13-year-old girl in Lamjung

Lamjung police have arrested a youth on charge of raping a 13-year-old girl in Besishahar of Lamjung district.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man on Monday evening, a week after the victim lodged a complaint, said Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.  According to the police, the youth had left for India after raping the girl.  

According to police sources, the youth had come from India in the last week of May.

The youths who had returned from India

were kept in the district level quarantine in Besishahar. While he was in quarantine, a complaint was lodged against him on Monday, June 20. Police did not arrest him saying that he could be infected with the corona virus. He was arrested by the Armed Police Force (APF) on Monday after receiving a negative PCR report.

According to police sources, further details have not been disclosed as the accused is related to Hadnata.  The victim has given birth at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan on May 10.  According to police, the incident took place on September 20.  Police said that the youth went to the girl's house and raped her.  Police are preparing to file a case under the Rape Act.  Police said that further investigation is underway into the incident.
